Data & Account Deletion

How to delete local WiseFin data, cloud data, and your account. Google Play and the App Store require a way to delete accounts created in the app.

1. Delete data on this device

Settings → Logout wipes the local Room database on that device, clears PIN and lock material, and signs you out of Supabase Auth on the device. Removing this device from Signed-in devices (or replacing it from another phone) does the same wipe the next time this device is online.

Uninstalling the app also removes local files. It does not delete your Google account and does not by itself delete WiseFin cloud data.

2. Delete household profiles and records

In Settings you can delete individual profiles, accounts, transactions, budgets, and categories. Profile deletion is a soft-delete that syncs so other devices can hide the same records.

3. Delete your WiseFin account and cloud data

Signed-in users can delete the account in the app: Settings → Delete account. You will be asked to confirm and to re-enter the email address you use to sign in. That permanently deletes your household ledger in PostgreSQL, your WiseFin Auth user, and local data on this device. Other signed-in devices wipe the next time they come online.

If you cannot use the in-app flow, email support@wisefin.ca from the same address you use to sign in, with subject line "WiseFin account deletion" and a request to delete your WiseFin account and cloud ledger data. We will complete the same deletion within 30 days of verifying the request, unless we must retain a subset to meet a legal obligation.

Supabase or Google may retain encrypted backups for a limited period. Deleting WiseFin does not delete your Google or Apple account.

4. What we cannot delete

Copies of statements that remain in your device Files app, email, or bank export folders (WiseFin does not keep statement files after import); and information we must keep under law.
